Traditional Teak Wooden Boat "Kalalau"

Category: Monohulls
Price: 89,900 US$

Langkawi Boat Sales & Services is proud to introduce this Traditional Timber Vessel for Sale.

KALALAU was designed by well known Californian naval architect William Lapworth and hand crafted by David Chen of the Choy Lee Shipyard in Hong Kong in 1975 from old-growth solid teak sourced from the highlands of Burma. Only the highest quality fittings and equipment purchased in the USA and Australia were used in her construction including silicone bronze fastenings and screws, Ford Lehman 80hp diesel engine, rigging, winches, anchor winch, ports, plumbing etc.

KALALAU was sailed in the waters of the Hawaiian Islands until 1985 when she sailed to Kodiak in Alaska and on down the inside passage to Seattle where she was sailed in the summer months and lovingly cared for in a private boathouse during the winters.

The second owner, who was the captain of a large wooden educational sailing schooner, purchased KALALAU in 2005 after searching the world for a timber yacht capable of extended ocean cruising in safety and comfort. He and his wife have since sailed the West Coast USA, across the Pacific to NZ, and throughout SE Asia and now reluctantly offer her for sale due to family commitments.

This magnificent blue water passage maker is beautifully built and equipped with a very comprehensive inventory and has been maintained to the highest standard. Any wooden boat enthusiast will recognize that this is a high quality yacht and she won’t disappoint anyone who loves classic yachts.
